Soul to Soul is a project that has brought two musicians - one from the East and one from the West- closer, to unite in the ocean of aesthetic music. The compositions are by Barun Kumar and Adam effortlessly blends into the spirit of the tunes by playing instruments like the Esraj (an ancient Indian acoustic bow instrument), the synthesizer, the guitar, bass, etc... What touched Barun about Adam was his aesthetic sense of music, understanding of Indian and Western Music and deep simplicity of thought. When Adam heard some of Barun’s compositions, he immediately decided to produce them. The tunes were recorded in Adam’s studio in south of France. He added his pristine touches to the tunes, and the result could only have one name : Soul to Soul.

In this CD, Barun Kumar Pal composer's talent beams. Upon his music, classical by essence, mingled with a sacred spirit, the Maestro rises and carries us along for a rich, subtle and buoyant journey in sounds. In refined themes and luminous improvisations, the Hansa Vina continuously glides, from the mysterious depths to the brightest zeniths. Musical aditions followed the initial recording, intending to unite artistic sensitivities and sounds (acoustics and electronics), without distorting or loading down the original compositions. The result is a set of patterns and reflections, counterpoints, where the main melody shows the way. Thank you, Subho, for your joy and magnificent play. Pandit Barun Kumar Pal plays an instrument of his own creation : an indianization of the Hawaiian guitar - The Hansaveena, blessed by his guru Pandit Ravi Shankar. His musical talent and relentless hard work has made Barun a leading Indian Classical Guitar artist of International fame. His sensitivity and stylized rendering of the nuances of Indian Classical Ragas brought accolades from all over the world.

Adam S. Callejon, a poet, musician and storyteller, has been performing and composing music for over 20 years. He studies North Indian classical music since 1999, and plays the Esraj. His interest in indian music and philosophy influences his present musical compositions.


Subhajyoti Guha is a talented, young tabla player from Kolkata, disciple of Pandit Chatterjee. Subhajyoti's intense dedication and love for his art has won him quite a few laurels. He is performing regularly in India and abroad.

Les compositions sont de Barun Kumar et Adam se coule avec aisance dans l'esprit des mélodies en jouant des instruments comme l'Esraj (une vièle à archet indienne), le synthétiseur, la guitare, la basse, etc... Ce qui a touché Barun c'est l'esthétique musicale d'Adam, sa compréhension de la musique, qu’elle soit indienne ou occidentale, et la profonde simplicité de sa pensée. Quand celui-ci a entendu les compositions de Barun, il a immédiatement décidé de les produire. Les musiques ont été enregistrées dans le studio d’Adam, dans le sud de la France. Il y a ajouté sa touche originale, et le résultat ne pouvait porter qu'un seul nom : “d'Âme à Âme”.

Ce disque illustre les talents de compositeur de Barun Kumar Pal. Le Maestro s’envole et nous entraine à ses côtés pour un voyage sonore riche, subtil et enjoué. Il déploie tout son art avec brio, atteignant au sommet. Dans les thèmes raffinés et les improvisations limpides, la Hansa Veena glisse en continu, des profondeurs mystérieuses aux zéniths les plus éclatants. Un travail d’additions musicales a suivi l’enregistrement initial, avec l'intention de réunir les sensibilités artistiques et les sons, (acoustiques, électoniques), sans altérer ni alourdir les compositions originales. Il en résulte un jeu de reliefs, de reflets, de contrepoints, où l'élément mélodique principal mène la danse. Merci à Shubo, pour sa joie et son jeu superbe.
